2013 Holy Week activities
Passover toy and Jerusalem dinner!
Resurrection rolls
He is Risen! We bout Easter puppets from Oriental trading so we could tell the story- Sunday garden and Jesus is out! Completed Easter timeline.
Easter village and symbols.
2013 Easter decorations, etc.
Wednesday we talked about Jesus being the "Good shepherd" so we set out our sheep- one for each family member (we bought all of the above off oriental trading company.
We keep the Easter symbols and resurrection egg items on this silver platter on our mantle. We also set up a timeline (also from oriental trading) as each day happens (It is not all day by day- there are some days with nothing and other days with lots- I may make a different one later)
We bought this movie and LOVE it. It is simplified and the kids love watching it. This Easter idea book was what started this whole journey in 2012 to a more Christ centered Easter.

2013 Palm Sunday
Our resurrection garden! This year we are going full steam ahead with lots of activities during Holy week! You plant a garden with wheat berries and a small pot for the tomb. You plant them Saturday or Palm Sunday and you should have grass by Easter
Instead of Bunnies and chicks, we decorate with sheep (Lamb of God) and donkey's (green colt ridden on Palm Sunday)
Oriental trading Company has a lot of things for a religious Easter celebration, so we bought these (they came in a dozen so each kid makes one and then we send the extras to family members). It is all the things that happens during Holy week on a wreath. We put it on our chandelier and the kids love talking about it over meals.
Resurrection eggs. These are a purchased set that I altered a little. I bought them because they had things like a chalice and cross that I could not make, but then I added items like a small piece of a sponge to talk about vinegar given to Jesus on the cross, etc. There are many printable versions and homemade options. We use them to read every night for scripture study and set up the items on a tray to look at suring the next day
2012 Easter books
We spent a lot of time reading different views of the Easter and Passover stories. Some scriptural based, some from the "eyes of the animals" or Peter, etc. We did activities during the week relating to Holy week like having a Jerusalem dinner on Thursday (when the Last supper or Passover would have been).
2012 Easter Basket and Hunt
Our new improved family Easter baskets. This year we decided to do a "Jesus basket" trying to focus on Christ as much as possible. We bought a book and journal for the adults, Easter sticker book and book for kids, a movie (not Christ centered), chocolate sheep and Cadbury eggs.
Easter egg hunt
2011 Holy week activities
We have felt of the whole Easter story, so for Family night, we learned the story of Easter. Then during the week we read Easter story books and re-told the story using the felt.
On Saturday night we made Resurrection rolls with marshmallows, butter, sugar and crescent rolls. We put them in a warmed oven and in the morning the marshmallow had "disappeared" and Jesus was risen!
2011 Easter baskets and egg hunt
This was our first year doing family Easter baskets. Each girl got one thing and then we split the candy and played the game and used the Jesus focused quiet book at church.
We do an Easter egg hunt, but we do that and the baskets on Saturday. It is our fun day and then Easter is about Jesus.
